Volkswagen Group’s Language Learning Journey with Speexx
Speexx and the Volkswagen Group began collaborating in 2012, initially providing language assessment for MAN and later expanding to include Škoda in 2013. Audi was also incorporated in 2016. Following a successful Request for Proposal (RFP) in 2021, Speexx became accessible to other brands within the Group.

The Volkswagen Group, headquartered in Wolfsburg, Germany, is one of the world’s leading automobile manufacturers and the largest carmaker in Europe. The VW Group is made up of 12 brands from seven European countries.
For almost a decade, Speexx has been a trusted partner for various Group brands, including MAN, Škoda, and Audi. In 2020, Speexx eagerly embraced the chance to participate in the VW Group’s tender.

Challenge
The Volkswagen Group sought a digital language learning provider capable of integrating multiple LMS platforms and offering solutions for brands without LMS access. VW Group prioritized selecting a provider with TISAX (Trusted Information Security Assessment Exchange) and CVA security certifications, capable of providing languages beyond English.
The RFP timing in April 2020 coincided with the onset of the pandemic, further emphasizing the need for digital learning solutions.
Solution
Speexx all-encompassing language learning platform proved to be the optimal solution for the Group. Tailoring its offerings to each brand’s specific needs, Speexx delivered a diverse range of products, including Speexx Core, Speexx Smart, and Speexx Expert Pro. Notably, Speexx Language Assessment emerged as a crucial tool for employees aspiring to advance their managerial careers.
To address intricate technical infrastructure and brand-specific requirements, Speexx seamlessly integrated with six different LMS platforms, such as Net Dimensions, Degreed, and SAP SuccessFactors. Additionally, five unique registration portals were developed for users without LMS access. Furthermore, a SAML-SSO integration was implemented for one of the brands.
Outcome
The collaboration has achieved remarkable success. At Volkswagen, more than 35,000 employees have access to Speexx. Similarly, at Audi, over 90% of users have attained English proficiency at B2 level or higher, demonstrating their strong engagement with Speexx.
Speexx technical prowess, its commitment to data security standards, and TISAX certifications have significantly contributed to the project’s success. This underscores Speexx ability to provide language learning solutions for decentralized matrix organizations and effectively manage large-scale, complex initiatives.
