Making the Switch from F2F to Digital Learning

Der endlose Weg der Digitalisierung

Regardless of the global situation, learning new skills is something that should never cease to continue, and workers worldwide are now accustomed to and are expecting to be able to work (therefore learn!) from anywhere.

About The Speexx Exchange Survey Report 2021

The Speexx Exchange Survey was conducted between October 2020 and February 2021 among HR and L&D professionals and senior management roles across 186 organizations from the USA, Europe, Middle East/UAE, Australia, Africa/Asia. These were equally split between SME and large corporations.

In 2021, organizations are working hard to design the new normal workplace. For many businesses, this may involve embedding a permanent switch to hybrid working, with people working both from home and from the office. HR and learning professionals have a key role to play. Those responding to Speexx’s annual survey, carried out in late 2020, said their three primary challenges for 2021 were aligning training with business needs, supporting business adaptability, and accelerating digital transformation.

Accelerated Digital Transformation

Businesses have surprised themselves with the speed and success of their digital initiatives in response to the pandemic. On average, digital transformation has leapfrogged seven years of progress in a matter of months.

Learning has inevitably seen increased digitization in the past year. In our last annual survey, which took place just a matter of weeks before the pandemic began, most survey respondents (66%) admitted that their team was ‘not at all’ or only ‘slightly prepared’ for
learning transformation. Only 13% said their teams were fully prepared for digital learning transformation.

Business Alignment and Adapting to Change

Most companies have experienced seismic changes in the past year in their operating models and business objectives. When asked ‘to what extent are HR objectives aligned with your organization´s business goals?’, close to 60% of global organizations said HR goals are “well-aligned and derived directly from company goals’ or ‘actively contribute to the long-term company strategy”.

A further 23% of organizations said that L&D goals are considered within the operational planning. That is a small increase from last year’s survey, signaling that learning is continuing to be further aligned to meeting business objectives. This is good for staff
and customers as business-critical skills improve.
